DESCRIPTION:Quality assurance Workshop\n \nThis hands-on workshop is one
of the four specialised training events within the UPLIFT. This workshop p
rovides a practical and theoretical introduction to quality assurance (QA)
methodologies essential for modern radiotherapy\, with a specific focus o
n the unique challenges and opportunities presented by upright patient pos
itioning.\nWorkshop Overview\nParticipants will gain foundational knowledg
e and practical skills across three core areas:\n1. Photon QA: The princi
ples of quality assurance for photon-based radiotherapy\, covering dosimet
ric measurements\, beam characterisation\, and verification procedures. Em
phasis will be placed on understanding how QA protocols may need to be ada
pted when transitioning from conventional supine to upright treatment geom
etries.\n2. Proton QA: Specific QA requirements of proton beam therapy\,
including range verification\, dose delivery accuracy\, and the physical p
roperties that distinguish proton beams from photon beams. Discussion on h
ow upright positioning influences proton therapy planning and delivery\, a
nd what this means for QA workflows\, will follow.\n3. 3D Printing of Phan
toms: 3D printing technology in the fabrication of custom phantoms for ra
diotherapy QA\, including material selection\, design considerations\, and
the role of patient-specific and anthropomorphic phantoms in validating t
reatment plans.\nLearning Outcomes\nBy the end of the workshop\, participa
nts will be able to:\n\nUnderstand the fundamental principles of photon an
d proton QA in a radiotherapy context\nIdentify the QA challenges specific
to upright radiotherapy delivery\nAppreciate the role of 3D-printed phant
oms as flexible\, cost-effective tools for dosimetric verification\nEngage
critically with QA literature and protocols relevant to the UPLIFT resear
 ch programme\n\n\nhttps://indico.fjfi.cvut.cz/event/497/
