Description

The present study focuses on the creation of a mathematical model for the decontamination of areas affected by radionuclide contamination. The work is dedicated to mathematical modelling, especially radionuclide atmospheric dispersion, radiation transport, and recovery strategies. The recovery model was created using the System Dynamics methodology, which is suitable to describe complex systems with non-linear behavior. The designed model interconnects dosimetry calculations with economic assessments, including a cost-benefit analysis. The model is dedicated to the recovery of selected urban and agricultural objects. To obtain the required input parameters, additional calculations were conducted using specialized codes, i.e., JRODOS and MCNP. Moreover, actual data about the demographic structure of affected towns within the emergency planning zone (EPZ), building parameters, and land-use were integrated. The results of the research can be used within the decision-making process by policymakers and stakeholders involved in emergency preparedness, response and recovery.

The presentation is prepared based on the research project of the Ministry of the Interior of Czechia "Improvement and development of tools, capabilities and skills in order to ensure effective management of the response to a radiation accident in all phases, taking into account the requirements of the National Radiation Emergency Plan of the CR" (ID:VC20232025007).
